Honoring Diversity for Autism in High School
An individual with Autism may feel left out of the classroom which might lead to the student not feel like he is important or become self conscious. This activity may help the student:
-get the student to place his/her back to the whiteboard
-get the other entire class to write something they have in common with the Autism student
-take a picture of it for the student to take home and also read all the classes comments
Maybe have the Autism student place the picture somewhere to remind him/herself that they matter and are as much a part of the classroom as everyone else. This also helps the rest of the class realize that they are similar to the Autism student.
